UW-SL Partnerships

EDUCATION      St. Luke’s serves as the community partner for two United Way Community Schools: Marvine Elementary in Bethlehem and Raub Middle School in Allentown. United Way funds St. Luke’s involvement in Youth Succeeding in School at Bethlehem’s Donegan Elementary School and Adopt-a-School in the Panther Valley School District. FOOD ACCESS      St. Luke’s and United Way support the recently-formed Lehigh Valley Food Policy Council. This collaborative effort of 17 founding partners aims to reduce food insecurity locally by focusing on key economic issues and other barriers to food access for all. HEALTHY AGING      United Way funds diabetes monitoring and education provided by St. Luke’s Community Health Department nurses in the neighborhoods where people live. Read about more ways United Way keeps seniors active and healthy here:


EMERGENCY SERVICES         Hurricane Maria forced evacuation of many residents from Puerto Rico, who traveled with nothing to communities in Pennsylvania to be near relatives or friends. Hispanic Center Lehigh Valley, supported by St. Luke’s and United Way, continues to aid newcomers and others with becoming self-sufficient. Read about one family’s journey here:
